Impedance Audiometry in New born Infant

Abstract
Impedance audiometry is one of the most useful and powerful screen test of hearing in newborn infant. Author performed Impedance Audiometry on 50 normal newborn infants within 96 hours after delivery and following results were obtained:
1. Tympanogram revealed 92% of type A, 6% of type B, and 2% of type C.
2. Average static compliance in type A tympanogram was 0.658cc, which was ranged from 0.31cc to 1. 10cc (96 percentile).
3. Stapedial reflex was positive in all cases, and stapedial reflex threshold was ranged from 95 dB to 120 dB. Average stapedial reflex threshold at 250 Hz, 500Hz, 1000Hz, 2000Hz and 4000Hz was 104.4dB, 104.9dB, 105.5dB, 106.9dB and 106.8dB each other. Overall average threshold was 106.7dB.
